What is dark field correction and how to use it

Dark field correction is used to remove the noise or defect pixels caused by high temperature, readout channel or long time exposure. Dark frames are the frames taken with no illumination and have the noise or defect pixels included. Subtract the dark frames from the acquired frames will keep the useful information and remove the noise or defect pixels.

Please be noted that when conditions changed, which include temperature, exposure time, gain settings, DFC must be performed again.

1. Please cover the cameras with caps to cut the illumination.

2. Set the number of dark frames, which are going to be averaged and taken as a reference for DFC.

3. Click the “Capture button” to acquire the dark frames.
